May 4th, Dawn Chorus:
Join a group at the crack of dawn to listen to the early morning birdsong, from 4.45am – 7am. Meet at the rustic bridge, near the Langley Way entrance to the park. Suitable for all ages but children under 16 years must be accompanied. Free refreshments and cake after the walk. Booking essential, contact Debbie Brady on 01923 278972 or email: email@example.com
May 5th, Watford 10K run:
Held on the May Day bank holiday each year this ‘charity fun run’ starts and finishes in Cassiobury Park. Money is raised for Watford Mencap and other charities Watford Round Table supports. After a change in 2013, the route for 2014 (on Monday 5th May) will take in the bluebell woods, as in previous years. Â There is a limit of 1,200 places in the main race and there are also popular junior 1k and 3k races attracting around 400 entries.Â Watford 10kÂ website.
May 9 & 10th, Heritage Horse and Carriage Rides:
From 9am on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th, there will be a series of horse and carriage rides starting at Cha Cha Cha.Â A charge applies and booking is essential withÂ Debbie Brady on 01923 278972 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
May 13th, Work-party in the Orchard:
Volunteers are sought to help with improvement work in the orchard area, Â behind the bowls clubhouse,Â on Tuesday 13th May. More details from Debbie Brady on 01923 278972 or email: email@example.com
May 17th, Dragon Boat Regatta:
Races are being held on the canal to raise funds for the Peace Hospice, see Dragon Boats for Peace

Early February – Watford Half Marathon:Â
Organised by the Watford Harriers this February event usually attracts around 2,000 runners and is one of the first large half-marathon events of the year in the south of the country. There is also a “Junior Challenge”, a series of shorter races for under 16s, on the same day. Â In 2014 this event was held on Sunday 2nd February. Â SeeÂ Watford half marathon website.
March 2014 – River Runner:
Two mile obstacle course, a new sponsored event for the Peace Hospice, held on Saturday 29th March 2014. For more details see Â Â Push It River Runner
April 15th & 19th – Spring Walk:
Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Officer Rob Hopkins led a nature walk in the park on these two days.
April 16th – Easter Egg Trail:

late May – Fun Fair:
A funfair with various rides and sideshows normally comes to the park at the start of the May half-term (Spring bank holiday weekend). Unfortunately this always seems to coincide with the rain!Â In 2014 the fair will visit from Saturday 24th May until the 1st June , and feature entertainment on Saturday 31st from theÂ Battling Cumberland Giants.
June – Race for Life:
In 2014 this annual fundraiser for Cancer Research UK will take place on Sunday 15th June. Â For details see RfL 2014
June – Starlight Walk:
This ladies-only sponsored walk to raise funds for the Peace Hospice generally includes Cassiobury Park on its route. The date for 2014 is Saturday 21st June, see Starlight
August – Herts Pride:
Following its successful launch in August 2013, the Herts Pride festival returns to Cassiobury Park on 30th August 2014. See Hertspride
September – Push it for the Peace:
Five mile obstacle course, held for the second time on Sunday 22nd September 2013. Â Provisional date for 2014 is 20th Sept.
October – Race for Life Twilight:
The Cancer Research UK twilight run/walk/jog was held on Saturday 26th October 2013.
early November – Fireworks display:
Each year the Cassiobury Park fireworks and bonfire night is held on the Saturday nearest to 5th November. In 2013 this was held on 2nd November. Â For more details see theÂ council website
November – Autumn Challenge:
Cross country race organised by Watford Joggers, most recently held on 17 November 2013. Â See Â Watford Joggers
December – Christmas Family Fun:
Festive family fun event held on Sunday 1 December 2013, Â at cafÃ©Â Cha Cha Cha. Due to be repeated on Sunday 7 December 2014.
