Watford Half Marathon:
Organised by the Watford Harriers this February event usually attracts around 3,000 runners and is one of the first large half-marathon events of the year in the south of the country.В Watford half marathon website
Race for Life:
In 2011 this annual event raising money for Cancer Research UK took place on Sunday June 19th. The race is 5km and starts at 11:00. Each year there are 5,000 spaces and around ВЈ300,000 is raised for Cancer Research UK. More details
Watford 10K:
Held on the May Day bank holiday each year (2nd May 2011) this ‘charity fun run’ through the bluebell woods starts and finishes in Cassiobury Park. Money is raised for Watford Mencap and other charities Watford Round Table supports. There is a limit of 1,200 places in the main race and there are also popular junior 1k and 3k races attracting around 400 entries.В Watford 10k website.
Peace Hospice Fitness Challenge
The Peace Hospice Fitness Challenge is a unique event for both men and women of all ages and fitness levels. After completing a 10k or 5k run participants have the choice to push themselves that little bit further by experiencing the British Military Fitness Test which consists of various challenging activities.
Top fundraisers have a chance of winning some fantastic prizes including, gym membership, studio classes, personal training, weight management and many more.
Free for Spectators and Participants: Sumo wrestling, Zumba classes and stalls providing information on wellbeing, health, nutrition and training tips plus many more

Smile Mile
The British Heart Foundation Smile Mile is a 1 or 3 mile sponsored walk, jog or run around the park. Taking place on Sunday 2nd October 2011 the event is family and pushchair friendly. For further details and to register online click here.
Entertainment
Fireworks display:
Each year the Cassiobury Park fireworks and bonfire night, once billed as the largest free fireworks display in Hertfordshire, takes place on the Saturday nearest November the fifth.
In 2011 the Firework display will take place on Guy Fawkes Night, Saturday November 5th.
The event starts at 6pm, with a children’s Fireworks display at 6:15pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the main Fireworks will commence at 7:30pm.
Parking restrictions will be in place on local roads to enable emergency vehicle access to the event.
The 2009 event attracted 40,000 people and raised over ВЈ5,000 for local charities.
Art
A Walk In the Park- An exhibition of paintings set around Cassiobury Park by Douglas Jackson. 5th-30th October at the Cha Cha Cha Tea Pavilion.
Fun Fair:
A funfair with various rides and sideshows normally comes to the park at the start of the May half-term (Spring bank holiday weekend). Unfortunately this always seems to coincide with the rain!

Previous Events:
Easter 2008 saw a circus in the park for the first time.
In 2007 and 2008 the Watford Observer Hertfordshire Motor Show was held in Cassiobury Park. The show was situated above the car park in the area where the funfair is normally held.
In previous years a “Play Day” has been held on the first Wednesday in August by Watford Council. В However in 2010 the event was not held at Cassiobury but instead at Garston Park.
