Events in Cassiobury Park
Festivals
The Inland Waterways Association 2013 National Festival is to be held at Cassiobury Park on the Grand Union Canal over the weekend of 19th to 21st July. See IWA
Herts PRIDE is a free event celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) life in Hertfordshire and beyond, to be held on Saturday 31st August 2013 in Cassiobury Park, from 11 am. See Herts pride website.
Sport
Watford Half Marathon:
Organised by the Watford Harriers this February event usually attracts around 2,000 runners and is one of the first large half-marathon events of the year in the south of the country. There is also a “Junior Challenge”, a series of shorter races for under 16s, on the same day. The 2013 event took place on Sunday 3rd February – results now available via Watford half marathon website
Watford 10K:
Held on the May Day bank holiday each year (6th May 2013) this ‘charity fun run’ through the bluebell woods starts and finishes in Cassiobury Park. The route was changed for 2013 to avoid the muddy sections though the woods. Money is raised for Watford Mencap and other charities Watford Round Table supports. There is a limit of 1,200 places in the main race and there are also popular junior 1k and 3k races attracting around 400 entries. Watford 10k website, results of 2013 race  now available.
Autumn Challenge:
Cross country race organised by Watford Joggers, to be held next on 17 November 2013. Course is down through the park, round Whippendell Woods, and back. See  Watford Joggers
Charity events
Cancer Research UK -Â Race for Life:
In 2013 this annual fundraiser will take place on Sunday 16th June starting at 11am. Each year there are 5,000 spaces and around £300,000 is raised for Cancer Research UK.  This year for the first time there will also be a twilight walk, on Saturday 26th October starting at 7pm. More details
Peace Hospice – Starlight Walk:
Starts from The Colosseum at 9pm on Saturday 22nd June 2013, with alternative 6 or 13 mile routes, ending in Cassiobury Park. See Peace Hospice website
Peace Hospice – Push It:
Five mile obstacle course, held for the first time in 2012 and returning on Sunday 22nd September 2013. See Peace Hospice website
Entertainment
Family Fun Day:
A family fun day was held in the park on Saturday 18th May 2013. Visitors were able to have their say about the heritage lottery funding bid plans for Cassiobury Park. See family fun day website.
Fireworks display:
Each year the Cassiobury Park fireworks and bonfire night takes place on the Saturday nearest November the fifth.
The most recent event took place on Saturday 3rd November 2012.
The 2009 event attracted 40,000 people and raised over £5,000 for local charities

Fun Fair:
A funfair with various rides and sideshows normally comes to the park at the start of the May half-term (Spring bank holiday weekend). Unfortunately this always seems to coincide with the rain!
In 2013 the fair is due to visit during the late May bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 25th to Tuesday 28th May.
