July 25 to August 2, Love Parks Week:
This national event is being celebrated in Cassiobury Park with a range of familyÂ activities, most of which start from around Cha Cha Cha. Â Includes (amongst others) Apex sports taster sessions (Friday to Friday) and heritage cycle rides (Monday to Friday).
July 26, Children’s cycling:
Celebrate Le Tour de France, which started in England three weeks ago and finishes in Paris tomorrow. Five to 16 year olds can sign on for the races at 10:30am on Saturday 26th July nearÂ Cha Cha Cha. Â£2 entry fee payable on the day. Â For more info or to pre-book your place, see Watford Cycle Hub
July 27, Croquet taster sessions:
Drop in at the croquet lawnsÂ near Cha Cha Cha between 11am and 2pm on Sunday 27th July 2014.
August 2, Musical concert:
The finale ofÂ Love Parks Week will be a concert near Cha Cha Cha on Saturday 2nd August from 1pm to 5pm. Details from park rangerÂ Debbie Brady on 01923 278972 or email: email@example.com
August 22, Bat Walk:
No, not a stroll around Gotham City, this event meets on the rustic bridge at 8:30pm on Friday 22nd August. Rob Hopkins from Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust will tell you a bit about bats, and hopefully help you spot one or two.
August 30, Herts Pride:
Following its launch in 2013, the Herts Pride festival returns to Cassiobury Park on Saturday 30th August 2014. Free entertainment from 11am to 9pm. For more details, see Hertspride
September 7th, Pedal 4Â Peace:
NB this event has been postponed from July – now taking place on Sunday 7th September 2014. Sponsored bike rides in support of Peace Hospice Care. There will be a choice of different routes, starting from the Gade Avenue car park in Cassiobury Park. See Peace Hospice
Some that have recently taken place, and others that are regulars each year
Early February – Watford Half Marathon:Â
Organised by the Watford Harriers this February event usually attracts around 2,000 runners and is one of the first large half-marathon events of the year in the south of the country. There is also a “Junior Challenge”, a series of shorter races for under 16s, on the same day. Â In 2014 this event was held on Sunday 2nd February. Â SeeÂ Watford half marathon website.
March 2014 – River Runner:
Two mile obstacle course, a new sponsored event for the Peace Hospice, held on Saturday 29th March 2014. For more details see Â Push It River Runner
May 1st – Greet the Dawn:
Woodside Morris Men generally getÂ up early on Mayday to greet the dawn in the park, see Woodside.
May – Watford 10K run:
Held on the May Day bank holiday each year this ‘charity fun run’ starts and finishes in Cassiobury Park. Money is raised for Watford Mencap and other charities Watford Round Table supports. As well as the main 10k raceÂ there are also popular junior 1k and 3k races. Results of 2014 event now on Â Watford 10kÂ website.
May – Â Heritage Horse and Carriage Rides:

May – Fun Fair:
A funfair with various rides and sideshows generally visits the park in late May. Unfortunately this usually coincides with rainy weather, and 2014 was no exception!
June – Race for Life:
In 2014 this annual fundraiser for Cancer Research UK took place on Sunday 15th June. Â For details seeÂ RfL 2014
June – Starlight Walk:
This ladies-only late evening sponsored walk to raise funds for the Peace Hospice generally includes Cassiobury Park on its route. In 2014Â the date Â was Saturday 21st June, with a candle-lit section through the park, see Starlight
June onwards – Green Gym:
Every Wednesday at 9:45am the Cassiobury Green Gym meetsÂ at Cha Cha Cha, and then sets off to do conservation work in the park until 1pm. For details and to sign up, see TCV Green GymÂ
June – Grand Union Challenge:
Cassiobury park was the half way point on the 100 km route for this event held for the first time in June 2014. Maybe coming back next year – see GU Challenge
September – Push it for the Peace:
Five mile obstacle course, due to be held for the third time on Sunday 20th September 2014. See push it
October – Race for Life Twilight:
The Cancer Research UK twilight run/walk/jog was held on Saturday 26th October 2013.
early November – Fireworks display:
Each year the Cassiobury Park fireworks and bonfire night is held on the Saturday nearest to 5th November. In 2013 this was held on 2nd November. Â For more details see theÂ council website
November – Autumn Challenge:
Cross country race organised by Watford Joggers, most recently held on 17 November 2013. Â See Â Watford Joggers
December – Christmas Family Fun:
Festive family fun event held on Sunday 1 December 2013, Â at cafÃ©Â Cha Cha Cha. Due to be repeated on Sunday 7 December 2014.
Various dates -Â Â Music in Cha Cha Cha:
There are occasional music events held at the cafÃ©Â in the park (Cha Cha Cha) on Saturday evenings. Â Admission charge, see Silencio
